Four Claude models build an airport seen from overhead

I gave four Claude models the same brief: build an airport, seen from directly overhead, that runs itself. Planes land, taxi, park at a gate, push back and take off again, several at once without driving through each other, with a departures board that updates. All in one HTML file, designed for a 1000 x 1000 window.

One attempt each, no retries, no coaching, a fresh empty folder per run. All four ran in Claude Code, so the prices under each are on the same basis.

The bill ran from $0.12 to $7.00. Haiku 4.5 finished in under a minute and a half for 12 cents, and its airport does not fit the frame it was told to design for: a runway runs off the edge, the planes are dots, there is no terminal and the departures board is cut off.

The other three work, and they disagree about what an airport looks like. Opus 5 built a dark ground radar screen with an ATIS panel for $3.00. Sonnet 5 built a clean green plan view with gates and a departures strip for $1.66. Fable 5.1 spent almost 19 minutes and $7.00 on an illustrated airfield with grass, a coastline, jet bridges, a hangar, a fire station, runway 09/27 painted properly, and separate arrivals and departures boards.
